Appearance and Design
The Build Quality of the Doogee Mix really impressed me. The phone is made of a metal CNC manufactured frame with a back cover with a glossy surface made from plastic material. The feeling holding it in the hand is a solid build premium phone. No complaints here.
Doogee Mix Smartphone | Full View
Although Doogee invested highly in external design of the phone, there were few design problems, mainly “cosmetic” flaws As I call them, affecting the appearance of the device. The Micro USB along with the speaker grill holes were not aligned and symmetrical in relation to the phone center axis. Also, the headphone hole was not centered and was located too close to phone frame edges. The Red line shown in the photo below represents the symmetric Axis.
In performance arena, the Doogee is equipped with MediaTek Helio P20 SoC (MT6757) equipped with a fast Octa core processor, composed of two CPU clusters. One, working at a frequency between 494 MHz – 2340 MHz, and the other between 806 MHz- 1664 MHz. The fact this device also has 6GB of RAM with above decent Mali-T880 MP2 GPU really helped running apps a lot smoother and faster. From my impression, after playing with this phone for few days, everything worked well and the phone responsiveness was super excellent. AnTuTu Benchmark score ranked 60176, right after to the Huawei Honor 8.

Based on preliminary benchmark test results, first reportedly on geekbench website, The Meizu Pro 7-S performance tests compared to the Doogee Mix ranked with a relatively small gap.
Software, Display, Cameras, Sensors, Speakers, Mic, Navigation, Battery
In the software department. The Mix came with clean Android 7.0 based AOSP ROM with a simple customized launcher, that performed well. The combination of 6GB RAM and MediaTek Helio P20 SoC really give the device a significant performance boost. From 6 GB of Memory, Android OS utilized only 22% leaving 4.4 GB of free RAM. I was able to play “heavy” high-resolution graphics games such as ‘Injustice 2’, ‘Last Day on Earth: Survival’ that played smoothly.
Doogee Mix | Android & UI
KVD company selected a 5.5 inch high-quality AMOLED display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. From my personal impression, the screen was externally responsive upon touch, which is a positive thing. Also from my tests, the panel supports up to 10-Finger Multi-touch, what greatly contributes to accuracy when typing letters, doing pinching gestures, rotating maps and so forth.
- Speaker – Produced above reasonable Sound.
- Microphone – Average sensitivity – tested with ‘sound recorder’ App
- Cameras – 5MP Front camera quality was above reasonable. while Rear camera performed average at best. Some of the photos came out blurry and grainy in low light condition.

Perhaps one of the most important sets of features any good phone must have is having accurate sensors. While some Chinese phone manufacturers sometimes like to “cut corners” due to cost issues and remove essential sensors, KVD Company did not do that. The Mix integrates nine types of sensors based on both software and hardware, including the Touch ID sensor embedded in the home button. From those nine, you are left with seven hardware based sensors that have an important contribution to the phone functionality in gaming as well as in navigation.
Hardware based Sensors:
- Ambient light sensor
- Magnetic field
- Touch ID (Fingerprint)
Doogeee Mix | Sensors Information
The Mix performance in navigation was great and the GPS worked out of the box. In my “static” test, I checked how many satellites are needed to get a good and accurate fix. When Tested outdoors with GPS-Test App accuracy ranged between 2-3 meters under a less of a minute from the time the GPS setting was enabled.

Offline Navigation Mode
In this test, I installed Here Maps (WeGo) App available to download from Google Play Store. Next, I downloaded the maps to my phone and disabled my internet connection. Selected a random destination and started navigating and pointing building to see if what I am seeing in the Map match to the direction and orientation of the route. To sum things up, Results were excellent and everything worked well. In the second picture (on the right) you can see how I pointed the phone towards on of the building to check direction accuracy.

Recognized by android OS as a 3000MhA Battery. The charger provided in the package is a standard 5V-2A. Based on my test, after completely discharging the battery it took 2 hours:56 Min to fully charge the phone Battery As shown in the photo below. For a faster charging time, you would need to buy a charger that supports quick charging technology. As for battery time, you can expect about 5 hours of Screen-on time if you enable the ‘Adaptive brightness’ function. In more moderate “lite” usage using IM Apps with Internet connection enabled the battery should last up a day of usage.
Pros & Cons
- 6GB RAM
- High Performance (A Good pick for playing Games).
- Solid build quality
- Excellent GPS
- 720P Display
- Few design issues
Despite the few design mistakes done with the Mix phone, I didn’t like, KVD did more things right than wrong. My personal experience with the Mix was generally good, especially in responsiveness and speed. If you are searching for a low budget phone with high-performance hardware suitable for running heavy game, then the Mix Basic edition (4GB RAM + 64GB) including the more advanced models might be a good choice.
