XIaomi Mi 8 First Preview
XIaomi Mi 8 has announced in an event on 31st of May, celebrating company 8th anniversary with the launch of their latest Mi series flagship devices, The Mi 8, Mi 8 Explorer Editions and Mi 8 SE. The new Xiaomi Mi 8 device comes with a large 6.21 inch Samsung AMOLED screen, supporting P3 wide color gamut, bright and transparent; back with a unique “drop arc” design, four-curved glass body under a 7-series aluminum frame precision convergence, the fuselage is equivalent to 5.5 “Traditional mobile phones have a back curvature that matches the palm of your hand and a one-handed, rounded feel. Mi 8 measurements are 154.9mm x 74.8mm x 7.6mm and weigh 175g, and It comes in white, gold, blue and black variants.

The Mi Xiaomi 8 uses a 6.21 inch Samsung AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2248×1080 pixels with an aspect ratio of 18.7:9, a screen share of 86.68%, with a maximum brightness of 600nits.
Processor
The Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition are both powered by a snappy octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. while the lower model, called Mi 8 SE is based on Qualcomm SDM710 Snapdragon 710 processor, designed for mid-range users looking for a low-cost handset.

Camera
The Xiaomi Mi 8 not only supports AI scenes. The camera can perform AI optimization on 206 types of scenes. It also adds 7 kinds of studio lighting effects based on AI portrait mode and can obtain a more accurate depth of field data for background optimization through big data. At the same time, Xiaomi 8 also has a built-in AI short video editing function. After the user records a high frame rate video of 120 fps or more, one of the default 7 preset styles can be used for one-touch processing. The front-end 20-megapixel camera with pixel-in-one technology has added AI micro-shaping beauty to further enhance the self-portrait experience.
It uses the same rear camera module as the Mimi MIX 2S, the wide-angle lens is the Sony IMX363, 12 million pixels, F1.8 aperture, the unit pixel area of 1.4μm, supports 2PD dual-core focusing, and the telephoto lens is Samsung S5K3M3, aperture F2 .4, the unit pixel area is 1.0μm. After two months of adjustment, DxOMark rated Xiaomi 8 with a camera score of 105 points, 4 points higher than Apple’s iPhone X.

Face Recognition
The Xiaomi Mi 8 supports infrared face recognition, which also enables quick unlocking at night. Xiaomi added a new infrared lens and infrared lighting components to build 4096 feature latitudes for high-precision smart matching. The unlocking method of the infrared face can effectively avoid the usage of photos, videos, and other tricks to bypass security, and those providing a safer face unlocking scheme. Under the black environment, it can be quickly unlocked.

GPS
The Xiaomi Mi 8 is the world’s first smartphone equipped with dual-frequency GPS. It supports dual-frequency positioning using the L1 band of 1575.42 MHz and the L5 band of 1176.45 MHz.
