Testing Network Bandwidth with iPerf

In this test, we connected our Dell Latitude 7490 laptop, equipped with a 1Gb network card, to one of the R2S LAN ports, and here are our results. According to our testing, we achieved throughput speeds of up to 923 Mbits/sec, which is excellent.

Testing CPU load

During our tests, we monitored CPU load while conducting a Speedtest via Ookla in the background on our Windows desktop PC, with htop running in console mode through SSH. We observed that one of the eight cores experienced a spike, reaching 100% utilization, and right after the test finished, it dropped to 0%.

Trying to run hardware flow offloading did improve throughput speed dramatically, but the CPU core performance remained pretty much the same. We conducted a thorough review of various tech assessments that performed similar tests on different low-end ARM-based hardware. Our findings confirm that it’s in normal range and should not present any issues as long as the board is adequately cooled. Having said that, if you come across a valuable tweaking solution or kernel patch that will lower core load, you are welcome to share it in the comments section.

Where did you get the case? I’ve looked everywhere on AliExpress (well, not *everywhere*) but have not been able to find any suitable case or even a drawing for a 3d printer.

Thanks for the tip but I can’t find the case under that name, also the pi4a has a whole other ports layout. Would you have a direct link?

I’m still looking for that case and can’t find it in your article? Can you just give me a link? Thanks
