Cooling and Temperatures
Idle temperature range
Based on our findings, under light workloads with an ambient temperature of approximately 27°C, we observed idle temperatures ranging from 42°C to 44°C. During more intensive tasks, temperatures can exceed 50°C.
CPU Throttling Test
In this test, we maximized the CPU cores at 2,400 MHz for about 10 minutes in an ambient temperature of 27°C. We started with an initial temperature of approximately 46°C. The highest temperature achieved during the test was 59°C, significantly below the maximum limit of 66°C. Notably, the metal case stayed relatively cool, which is a highly favorable result.

Metal enclosure
This device not only looks great, but it’s also way tougher than those typical plastic ones that break easily. Like the earlier models. Also, Ugoos has put some ventilation holes on the bottom of the case to help let out any extra hot air. For those that are still worried about its efficiency under strenuous conditions, integrating a cooling fan at the base of the unit can significantly expedite the cooling process.
Heatsink Design
Ugoos has once again integrated a substantial passive heatsink into the chipset of the AM9 model, guaranteeing optimal temperatures and flawless performance, even during intense usage. Instead of taking the device apart, we contacted Ugoos for a photo of the PCB featuring the installed heatsink (see picture below). The image reveals that the majority of the electronic components are concealed beneath the heatsink unit.

Excellent article. Probably the best review for this player out there.
Thanks for your kind feedback.
Very informative and helpful review, I have been considering the AM9 for a few weeks now, my only concern is that it’s running Android 14.
I have read a few times that kodi isn’t good on A14, however your review states kodi runs fine.
I am not a tec person so rely on reviews like yours, if there are problems I assume newer versions of kodi will resolve this.
At present I am using firestick 4k max, it most certainly struggles with 4k movies so want a newer better upgrade.
Thanks for your comment! I can’t promise it will support every video format out there, but it handles my large video file samples just fine. If you’re less constrained by budget and interested in more powerful hardware specifications, consider checking out the Ugoos SK1.Both devices are compatible with Kodi.
Thank so much for your advice, it’s much appreciated, have a great day…soph
You’re welcome. Thanks.
