    The NE301 Case

Made from high-quality plastic, the main body of the case is essentially a plastic frame with two covers—one in front for accessing the hardware and one at the back where the battery housing pack is placed. The downside of this case design is that the USB Type-C port isn’t accessible externally, so to power the unit you’ll probably need to drill a hole through the case to pass the cable.

    The lesser good

Although the CamThink team did a really good job designing a high-quality plastic case, we found that the main board attached to the case lacks metal threading. Why is this important? Because not all interfaces are easily accessible, and sometimes you’ll need to dissemble the board to replace the TF card. In this case, self-tapping screws are more convenient, but with metal threading, the threads won’t get worn each time you take the board apart.

    Protection against water and dust

The NE310 case kit includes two square-shaped sealers, one for the front cover and one for the back cover frame. If you’re wondering what kind of protection these seals offer, it’s likely limited to water splashes and dust. We’re not too sure a plastic camera could handle being out in constant rain for a long time, but we could be mistaken.

From our experience, everything fit perfectly, and this small, handy upgrade to the case, which makes it tightly sealed, is a great addition. It’s definitely better than having no protection at all.
