IR Remote Control

The remote control is basic and very easy to operate. It has all standard functions such as navigation keys, home, volume, back buttons, power OFF/ON button including a basic Fly Mouse mode that is operational through remote navigation keys.

Quality

The Qplus casing is composed of three elements: Main body, made from a metal profile with two plastic enclosures on both sides, one in front and another on the back for all standard ports. The Box is equipped with an external (non-detachable) antenna, From my checks antenna housing plastic joint seems to be a bit lose, what shouldn’t happen hoping it’s a one-time problem. As for general quality is good and I didn’t find additional problems.

Design

In terms efficiency casing is well designed and doesn’t heat much, indicating that most of the heat isn’t discharged through the housing envelope and PCB inside gets proper cooling.

System

The Qplus Box runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS with Kernel Version 3.10.0.Latest Build number as of February 2015 is 20150207. In case you don’t have the latest one, you can download it directly from Here.

The CPU runs at clock speeds between 126 MHz in the idle state up to 1.80 GHz (peak speed).

Performance

General performance is very good. Antutu benchmark software scored ranked 35153, a very similar result to Rikomagic V5 Mini PC (TV Stick) I have previously tested That’s also based on Rockchip RK3288 hardware.

Video Playback ( XBMC )

The box came pre-loaded with XBMC 14.0 Helix Alpha-4 including many popular add-ons. From the first impression, XBMC Loads fast in just 1-2 seconds and performed well as expected from a Rockhip device.

1080P

1080P playback was excellent. On my tests, I didn’t see any visual lags or sudden picture freezes when playing ISO or MKV video files up to 30GB in size from my personal Video sample collection.

2K x 4K

Rockchip support with XBMC is still not perfect. Similar to Rikmagic V5 Mini PC device I previously tested some of my video samples played smoothly and well without any frame drops. On more higher bitrate samples movements between movie scenes were choppy or with minor freezes.

Conclusions :

Nice product. Price is also pretty attractive for a box almost completely made of metal material. The Qplus Box sales at the official AliExpress company store at $99.99 retail price (Including shipping fee – depending on carrier).
