Installing additional components

LTE Cat.1 Communication Board

One standout feature of this product is its cellular network connectivity option. While not part of the default package, it’s available for just $31.50—a great deal for such functionality. The Quectel EG912U expansion board is an LTE Cat 1 module designed for M2M and IoT applications, offering maximum data speeds of 10 Mbps downlink and 5 Mbps uplink. That said, the LTE Cat.1 board comes with an integrated Nano SIM slot and connects to the main board through two header sockets, making it simple to take apart and reach the NE301 main board assembled beneath it.

The camera Module

As mentioned, is replaceable and comes with a housing with a thread where you can screw and fit the lens unit. The downside of the camera module is that it lacks an autofocus feature, so you’ll have to adjust it manually to get a sharp, clear image. Much like the HuskyLens series, the NE301 supports a maximum frame rate of 25fps, so it likely won’t deliver premium quality when capturing shots of fast-moving objects.

Overall, the module provides solid picture quality that will please most AI enthusiasts. Our unit came equipped with an OS04C10 4MP sensor, complete with a protective cap.The company also offers a range of upgrades, like higher resolutions for crisper images, wider lenses, and various fields of view with different focus distances to fit specific needs.

In addition, there is also a MIPI camera interface available on the main board that isn’t very accessible externally but could likely be used to connect a second module if needed.
